Horse Powered Reading
A New and Unique Way to Empower ALL Students
We Are the Home of Horse Powered Reading with Dr. Michele Pickel
Horse Powered Reading was developed in 2012, by Dr. Michele Pickel. Since it's inception, Horse Powered Reading has helped thousands of clients become better readers by combining the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) model of equine assisted learning, with the use of research-based reading strategies that engage the mind, body, and emotions in learning.
Our dedicated team of facilitators and horses challenge students to build connections while exploring basic reading skills which include phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. We call it the BRIDGE TO READING.
Cross P Ranch is located in beautiful Lino Lakes, Minnesota. To find out if there is a Horse Powered Reading program available in your area, click the link below.
Dr. Pickel also offers online training workshops for teachers and equine professionals who are interested in starting their own HPR programs.
We are adding to the list regularly. If you would like to be notified when a Horse Powered Reading program opens near you, please contact us.
